Excursion and Social Dinner
Herrankukkaro is an unique site for recreation events. It is located in Rymättylä, which is an old fishing locality in the Turku area's archipelago in South-West Finland.
At 16.25 we will board into buses that take us from the iFM 2013 venue to Herrankukkaro.
At 17.10 we arrive at the Old Fisherman's Village and enjoy the welcome toddy tar liquor, served in the archipelago village tradition, in the beachside lean-to. We are welcome by the Old Fisherman's Village host with a short description of the services offered, the surrounding archipelago and the history of the Old Fisherman's Village. From 17:30 the sauna is ready for those who want to enjoy it. After heating the pine-scented sauna for 10 hours, it is ready for use. Towels etc. are provided. A good swimming platform is available all year round as well as warm water barrels.
From 17.35 to 18:00 we can also enjoy a guided walk around the Herrankukkaro village for those who are not going to the sauna. This will include a brief introduction to the history of Herrankukkaro and a short tour, to get us familiarized with the surroundings.
From 19.00 we will enjoy the Wildfood Menu of the archipelago:
NB! This feast menu is served depending on the weather conditions at the shore lean-to or indoors. The menus contents are dictated by the catch of the fishermen.
In the evening we can gather indoors or by the warmth of an open fire and light of storm lanterns in the beachside lean-to.
At 22.00 steamship Ukkopekka takes us back to Turku where we arrive at 00.30.
